Choose a scene from the film that you find interesting, striking, disturbing, etc. and discuss in a paragraph (that means a minimum of 5 sentences Jimmy Z.--I am sure you learned that in 7th grade English!) and comment on another student's response.

So far in "Apocalypse Now" I think that the opening scene is the most interesting because it sets up the rest of the movie and lets the viewer get to know the main character. I find the special effects to be really well done ,especially with the napalm, for an old movie. In addition I think that battle scenes have just the right amount of action, and its cool when they drop the napalm. A scene that is disturbing to me is when there on the river boat and the soldiers kill the Asian women just because the other man is arguing with the black soldier over the dog. I think it's wrong because she was already shot and injured and if anyone deserved to be killed it was the man, not a defenseless woman.

I agree that the scene on the river is very disturbing and cruel and completely unnecessary with the violence that occurs.

The most disturbing scene is the scene on the river when the men go to search the other boat and end up killing everyone and then kill the Asian women to continue up the river. Also the scene when the cow is being killed at the same time as the leader of the island murdered. The scenes of murder and shooting are very graphic and disturbing to watch yet convey a realistic view of war.

I agree, all of the murder scenes were very graphic, and that scene with the murder of the women was brutal.

I think the most distrubing scene was when Tyrone, the young man who had been listening to the tape recording of his mother, was shot and his shipmate floated with him in the river. Personally, this scene was extremely touching and off-putting because of the effect his death had on everyone. The ship was no longer a happy or safe place; one of their best friends and soldiers had been taken from them and the harsh reality of war set in. This scene also demonstrated how much this war disturbed the minds of the soldiers. They sometimes became eccentric and weird, because of the tragedies and brutal scenes they have witnessed.

I do agree with you there, i was almost brought to tears watching that scene. It made a real impact on the viewers (or maybe just us because we are cry babies) and it was a realization to the crew members on the small boat.

In this film I find the most intersting scene to be the very first scene. Willard is on a total drinking binge and looks as if he's lost his mind. He even injures himself trying to fight a nonexisting person. This particular part in the movie shows how devastating the impact of war is on a soldier.

The scene in this film that was most disturbing to me was the scene where all of the men are seated in the small arena on the river and the "playboy bunnies" are brought down for the men to just look at. I felt as if this part of the movie was 100% irrelevant to the movie and I kinda felt as if it was added to just give the men who are watching this movie something to watch. It literally just made no sense as to why it was part of the movie, and not to mention but it was a little dirty and unessecary to what the movie was about.
