I like the third option. It's simple and not cowardly in my book. It's smart and a good way to get out of a war

The blockade or "quarantine" is the best way to stop any further missiles to go to Cuba. But talking after that was again the best way. No wars, no bloodshed.

I feel the way JFK handled the Cuban missile crisis was effective though there were other methods he could have used to handle it. I feel that he could have tried to negotiate with Cuba and Russia about the missiles and weapons but this could have also worsened things from heated arguments. I also feel that the air strike method would have ended with the missiles being fired though it could have demolished Cuba, Russia would have definitely fired on American with their arms potentially creating World War III

I also feel that if they didn't act in the quickest, least threatening and most professional way they would have lost many supporters and the missiles could have been fired so Kennedy was put in a tense situation and the way he solved it was the only way to avoid the destruction of the United States

President Kennedy is taking the pressure very well. Setting up a blockade and invading Cuba is not the best course of action but it's hard to make decisions under these circumstances

I think his way of trying to avoid a war as calling it a quaritine was smart it was legal and not seen as an act of war, going into a nuclear war would have been the worst decision because the route we took with the quaritine actually allowed us to come to an agreement later on, war should never be the first solution proposed when there is a problem between two countries, yes we should always be ready to take action but, not until there is a real legitimate problem should we attack any nation

I concur war was the last thing they wanted. The quarantine solution definitely handled the situation as the best way to not get into a war and continue with peace.

I think JFK handled the Cuban missile crisis very professionally. He tried to avoid war and that was good. Going in to nuclear war would've been the worst decision. Also because the route we brought us to a agreement. It was also good that he adressed the world about the crisis before it happen, because everyone in the state deserves to know what is happening with the country. I also liked how be was mentaly and physically preparing for this and preparing everyone for what was about to happen

Personally the blockade was a good idea. It prevented the missiles from reaching the island. This would prevent a war or the chance of the missiles being fired off. There would be no casualties or any actual fighting. I also think it was our own fault for the Cuban missile crisis. If we didn't try to invade Cuba and piss off casto, he wouldn't have allowed the Russians to use Cuba to hold their missiles as eagerly as he did.

I think our country should just stop butting in on everything in everyone else's business. If we didn't try to take over Cuba they wouldn't have had to turn to the Soviet Union for bombs to get us to back off. But I think JFK handled it pretty we'll in the case of not getting into a war and being careful with the situation and not useing brute force and killing massive amounts of people quarantine and An agreement to not invade Cuba and they'd take down there missiles is allot better then a nuclear war. I think that was the best way if handling it

I think he handled the situation quite nicely. He handled it to the best of his ability and kept the peace and didn't start another world war. I would have followed JFK's footsteps he kept the peace and made sure there wasn't a war. If he hasn't handled the situation with such caution he could have angered the Cubans allies and all of the Soviet Union would have lashed out and start another world war. Which at that time would have been terrible because of the peace and all of the allies that took sides it would have been even worse. Not to mention some new weapon technology and better weapons would have provided a more brutal and horrifying war.

Not including the USSR was on this killstreak of swallowing its neighbors and becoming larger and stronger because of it.

For years, America had to intervene in wars and bomb many countries. During a time of peace, we don't want more wars. The stress put on everyone at this time was extreme. It's either stop the Russians or get blown up. Taking things slow and using names like quarantine help to make sure war is prevented. Many life threatening choices had to be made. But it turned out even the Russians don't want war. These choices that the president made were uneasy choices, but they worked out in the end.

I believe JFK handled the situation to the best of his ability. He did not want to start a war, so he didn't go on the offensive. He also didn't want to get the Western Hemisphere destroyed, so he quarantined all boats with offensive weapons headed to Cuba from any nation, so that way Cuba wouldn't be as much as a threat. I would have handled the situation almost the same way. I would have made more threats to the Soviet Union, hoping that they would have backed down. I also would have requested that the missiles already at Cuba would be disassembled and be sent back to Russia. If they acknowledge and sent the missiles back, I believe that would be the end of the conflict.

He handled it well because an act of war is safer than an actual attack. If the President had chosen to go forward with an attack it would have immediatly sparked World War III. He was smart enought to prepare two speeches and that bought him more time to make a well thought out decision thinking about the consequences that could come from each choice.

JFK had a few options, the options were navel quarantine, an air strike or a full invasion of Cuba his decision had greatly influenced the times and the American-Soviet relations. The way JFK handled to issue of the Cuban Missile Crisis with the navel quarantine from my perspective was the best option at the time for not just the president but for the safety of the world. I would agree that this option was the best for the most peaceful and favorable method of going about this issue.Any other thing could have and in all likelihood would have led to a nuclear war and/or nuclear holocaust of the entire world’s population.

What if the ships didn't stop what have the U.S. have done then I mean it worked yes, but either way then the two aggressive options could have lead to disaster.

JFK tried really handle the problem in Cuba in the most infitionent way he could. If we just left alone we wouldn't had a problem. Other than that JFK handle it pretty we'll not just going in there guns blazing and killing a lot of incitzens and taking this situation precautionausly as possible. Making the best decisions as he possibly could against the Cuba missile crisis.

I believe he made the most easies choose for himself with in so much pressure. I believe if they thought a lot more then they did maybe they could of thought of something better then they come up with..

JFK came up with, what he thought was the best idea. Even if he had more time, I believe he would have done the same thing. There was no choice that would have made the entire situation disappear. With the position JFK was in, he would have got criticized with any choice. He didn't want to start WWIII and he didn't want to sit back and do nothing. So he acted with a well thought out and strategic move, the quarantine.

I agree with Trevor he didn't have much time to think of a better solution like Trevor said I also think he would have stuck with the same solution. It was the best solution that kept peace and no wars or acts of war. Also like Trevor said he would have been criticized with any decision he made but if he made the best decision he could ( like the quarantine ) he wouldn't get criticized as much and save the world from a nuclear world.

JFK tried to handle the problem in Cuba the best he could but his cabinet had different plans for how to handle Cuba. Instead of blocking the Soviets they should've left Cuba alone and waited until we absolutely needed to get involved. The idea of attacking or invading Cuba may have solved the problem with

The idea of attacking or invading Cuba would have solved that problem but would have made an even bigger one, another world war. The allies of Cuba (Soviet Union) would have responded with acts of war, missile launching, invading, carpet bombing etc. Why would you try to handle the situation like that when there was the plan of quarantining them and avoiding another war and taking care of the Cuba threat.

A more passive plan of action would have diffused the situation better than a war. If there were to be a war then it would be a lot worse than the methods of going about it. The plan that did was the best is the interest of the world's safety.

I concur with Michael that was the best way to treat the situation, it minimized the amount of conflict between us and them. He thought of that under immense amounts of pressure from everyone, and he only had a small amount of time his plan was ingenious.

I think that Kennedy did everything he could to prevent the war. He could have done many different things but what he did prevented war. He did that when no one thought he could. He stopped a nuclear war. He stopped missile sites from being set up in Cuba, I think he handled it quite well. I would have done something quite similar to stop soviet advance, to stop nuclear war

Preventing nuclear war is a very stressful and hard thing to do. Not too many people can do that. President Kennedy found a way though. He found it and took it

Cuba but it would've caused a the Soviet Union to strike and a nuclear war would begin. JFK did handle the pressure well but was influenced wrongly and wasn't thinking about what the consequences were to every plan.

He only had a certain amount of time he wasn't wrongly influenced by anyone and yes he did look at all of the consequences. He is the president for a reason he is there to make those kinds of decisions knowing that we the people will understand that his idea will best suit the situation and make the retaliation as small as possible. He is there to make the big decisions because the people voted for him knowing he would.

JFK was not influenced wrongly, and he did think about the consequences, obviously the decision was harder than you think it was.

JFK made gut decisions and could have started a world war just as he prevented one. He was pressured to make different decisions and chose the one that worked best but it still could have gone either way.

I think JFK's handling of the Cuban Missile Crisis was appropriate for the time. War with the USSR would've meant massive casualties with no winners. The only option in a situation like this is to try to defuse tension and do anything necessary to avoid war with Soviets. A war with the USSR at that time would've been damn near un-winnable.
